Good morning, fellow Research Administrators!
I am little late to the introduction emails so I apologize.
I am still catching up from my trip to Tyumen, Russia in May. I was a recipient of the NCURA-EF Global Fellowship to Russia. I just spent 2 weeks with Tyumen State University (or University of Tyumen – seems marketing folks at the university are trying to change the name). The trip was wonderful and I found a number of potential collaborations between UNCW/the UNC System and Tyumen State University.
I am currently the Director of Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance (SPARC for short). I have been a Seahawk (that is our mascot and we do have real Seahawks flying around campus) for 7 years now and am enjoying every minute of it! I have been in research administration for over 30 years at various universities, state agencies and even non-profit groups.
I will be attending AM59 and look forward to meeting as many colleagues as I can.
Tricia and I are "hosting" a discussion group "Global Fellows: Experiences, Hosting and Opportunities for Collaboration on Wednesday, August 9th from 10:30 to noon. Please join us if you can.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Greetings everyone! Please allow me to join the introductions.
I am pleased to have an opportunity to collaborate with you all in the NCURA Global Community.
A few words about myself. I work at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, KS, a vibrant university community outside of Kansas City. I have over 17 years of experience in research administration, specializing in post-award activities, PeopleSoft data quality assurance, as well as training programs for research administration staff. In the last few years had a great privilege of attending a number of NCURA conferences and presenting at a few. I met some of you in person already, and I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you in the future.
My general outlook on life is – let's learn more new things and share the knowledge we have, and encourage others to share their knowledge – you know, there are so many people out there that know so many cool things, if we can only learn from them! The opportunities are endless!
I know, this sounds so much like research administration – it's something new … all the time … and we have to share it.
… and Yes, I can be very enthusiastic at times.
I am looking forward to collaborating with everyone in this community.Elena
