  • 1.  International Faculty Training/TA Agreements - Looking for Sample Copyright Language

    Posted Fri August 14, 2015 11:42

I have been working on an agreement template for faculty who are doing training/ta at institutions outside of the US.  I am hoping to collect some sample copyright language for an agreement that would cover any materials that are developed during the Agreement that would retain copyright for the faculty and allow a license for educational uses.  I am also interested in any language related to use of copyrighted materials and that any UW licenses to use the materials are not automatically transferred.

Feel free to comment or to forward any templates you have to me directly.

    Thanks.

Are your faculty collaborating with anyone at the other institutions to develop the training and other copyrightable materials?

    Vince,

When needed, UMB uses copyright language similar to our invention language, including the grant of rights language. Our training and TA programs have been collaborative and so it makes sense for the creating party (or parties) to retain ownership and to grant rights for research and educational purposes. If the other party is working as a consultant or a vendor, then our consulting and procurement agreements contain standard "work for hire" terms that assign ownership of copyrightable materials to UMB.
