Thanks for your comment, and I couldn't agree more. Sometimes we're so focused (and in despair?) about what is left to be done that we forget to appreciate what has been accomplished. Two years ago on the 30th anniversary of the first reported case of AIDS, our Center asked attendees at our AIDS Science Day conference "What was the defining moment that got you involved in HIV/AIDS?" We recorded many heartwarming, and many sad stories, that reminded all of us how far we've come.

Of course our role in research administration is to find solutions to problems through research so we do not always step back to take a look at the entire picture. With this information, at least we can argue that methodical and sustained assistance have achieved a positive impact.
