Good Morning,  I'm interested if for COVID-related PPE needs if your institution is centralizing ordering and if you are funding those needs centrally vs. pushing to each department to place their own orders and pay with departmental or grant funding sources?

PPE for our research laboratories is currently provided and funded through the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs.  At present we are not charging investigators or grants for PPE required as part of our COVID-19 response.

My institution implemented a centralized process for procurement and distribution of commonly requested PPE to ensure the PPE meets quality standards.  Units submit requests and designated divisional staff approve the requests and submit the orders.  If a grant funded project requires the use of PPE, regardless of COVID-19, those costs will continue to be considered direct costs to those projects.  PPE purchases specifically related to COVID-19 are currently funded centrally.
