    Dear NACCA/NCURA Community,

    My communication comes with the hopes that you and your families are remaining safely at home and are healthy during such unprecedented times. When we all left our offices sometime in mid-March, who would have ever thought that we would still be fighting this pandemic and working remotely? Coupled with other events and real challenges facing our nation/globe, it truly is a time for reflection for all of mankind.

    I write today with several updates impacting our NACCA 2020 Conference, all with great excitement and promise for the future…..

    It is my pleasure to share that Chea Smith, a long time (although not as long as me!) attendee and fan of the NACCA conferences, currently the Director of Cost Analysis and Reporting at Rutgers University, has accepted the role of Associate Director with NACCA leadership. Chea brings extensive experience in higher education costing practices along with a can-do, positive approach – always willing to help for the greater good. Chea will assist me with decision making, program planning for continued success, our mission and the future direction/growth of this amazing community of cost accountants, award management and compliance professionals. We are excited to get started!!!

    It likely will not come as a shock that an onsite/in-person conference this year is not prudent. This is not to mention the social gathering concerns but the fact that many of our organizations are taking measures to save on discretionary spending in order to save jobs and keep the wheels turning. However, we are excited to tell you that with the assistance of the NCURA team, NACCA leadership and the Program Committee, as well as with your support, we are planning a Virtual NACCA 2020.

    The exact date(s) of the Virtual NACCA 2020 event has not yet been finalized, but we suspect that as would be our normal time to meet, it will occur in the late fall. We already have obtained support from several of our consulting partners as well as the Federal participants….all great news!

    To this end, you can expect to see a survey to assist us in the planning to meet your needs and expectations. Please begin to think about the topics that would be of most interest to you – especially now as we are doing business as 'unusual' and learning how to navigate our roles and responsibilities differently. What a great opportunity to share…
