Hi all,
For FY2020, there have been recent NIH funded COVID research trials at the University of Illinois which enroll patients who use our UI Health billable services (hospital) and will incur research patient care costs which will meet or exceed the NIH threshold requirement of greater than $100,000 in a single budget period on a single grant. Historically UI Health has been using the Medicare RCC rate which is administratively cumbersome (multiple discount rates derived for different cost centers) making it labor intensive when determining the research pricing for research contracts/budgets. It is now necessary for us to calculate and negotiate a research patient care rate agreement with the cognizant CAS office.
We would like to talk to some Universities which have had experience in calculating and negotiating these overhead rates with CAS? Please let me know if we could talk to you or if you know of someone which could provide us with guidance. Also, if you know of any consultants who have assisted with such rate calculations please let us know who to contact.
Thanks so much!
Shelly
