Greetings! My name is Chris Winders, and I am a doctoral student at the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC).
I am looking for research administrators at R2 institutions to complete a Q sort activity to gain a better understanding of the variables used when determining the size of their staff. This study is being conducted by Chris Winders under the supervision of Dr. Michelle Maher, Professor and Chair of Education, Social Work and Psychological Sciences.
My dissertation research questions are:
- What variables do RAOs at R2s consider to determine the size of their staff?
- Of these variables, which are deemed most important?
Your participation in this study will require you to complete a ranking of statements encompassing many variables that may contribute to the decision-making process regarding staff size within your research office. It is estimated that this study may take approximately 20 minutes. To compensate you for your time you will receive a $100 gift card at the completion of the study (~3months). To receive the compensation you will need to provide your email address in the demographic section of the survey.
Your participation will involve completing a Q sort in Q Method Software. The Q sort activity requires you to drag and drop 42 statements into one of eleven categories (ranging from most important +5 to least important -5). After you read each statement, you will place it in the category that most aligns with your thinking.
You can change positions of any of the statements in the bins at any time.
The research team will do everything possible to ensure the confidentiality of your data. Your identity will not be revealed in any publications of the results of this study. If you would like to receive the study results upon completion of this research study, include your email address in the demographics section and I will send you a copy.
