Changing Federal Landscape Community

Hello all,

I am preparing a notice to campus in advance of the March 14th (the end of the CR) regarding a potential shutdown. On a webinar with ACE today, I heard mixed opinions on whether there will be another CR or a shutdown.  Personally, I think we will have a shutdown given how far apart the parties are right now.  I plan to use similar language as we have used in previous federal shutdowns.  Is anyone planning to say anything different this time around from previous federal shutdowns?

Hi Kris -

We're preparing our first communication to go out today. The language is slightly changed from previous communications because it's uncertain if funding will look the same on the other side of the federal budget conversation with either a CR or budget and if we'll be reimbursed for expenses during a shutdown. We're urging PIs to submit any NCEs, preapprovals, request incremental funding, plan for federal partners on awards to not be available to work on projects, limiting at-risk accounts, and notifying grant accountants to invoice for milestones or deliverables already completed.
