As the Director of Research Development at Florida Atlantic University, I oversee all University-wide programming and outreach for proposal development including institutional initiatives, limited submissions, early career programming and even donor funding acquisition.
Prior to FAU, I established TWO sponsored research offices from the ground up -- first at New College of Florida (from September 2003 - February 2015) and then again at Florida Polytechnic University (February 2015 - December 2018) to establish and manage all aspects of the research enterprise.
In addition to the standard areas of proposal management, electronic research administration (era), budget development, compliance monitoring (conflict of interest, time and effort, etc), and post-award oversight (purchasing, cost determinations, budget transfers, personnel actions, etc.), I have been heavily involved in establish a research collaborative ecosystem, encouraging faculty and staff to brainstorm and interact frequently.
Additionally, I have experience spearheading other efforts with internships and national fellowship management and support for undergraduates and graduate students. This also included, while at New College, assisting students in crafting, developing and applying for research grants and internships as an integral part of their educational portfolio.
As New College's Human Protections Administrator, I oversaw all aspects of the Institutional Review Board, including outreach, management and participation as an Ex-Officio member of the IRB.
