Hi friends,
Beth Kingsley (Yale) and I are reaching out to folks we think might be interested in writing an article for the August AI-themed issue of NCURA Magazine. Here are the details:
Topic: Any aspect of research administration related to contracting (including subcontracting)
Theme for the August Issue: The theme "AI - The Next Frontier" explores how research administrators could use Artificial Intelligence to transform the field, opening new possibilities for efficiency, compliance, and data-driven decision-making. From automating the review of grant proposals to identifying eligibility criteria and compliance risks, AI could allow research administrators to focus on strategic tasks over routine, transactional activities. Predictive analytics models can analyze historical data to forecast funding success, helping administrators prioritize resources for the most promising projects. AI-powered tools can also enhance compliance monitoring by flagging potential issues in real time. Personalized AI-driven assistants can answer faculty questions about grant applications, deadlines, and submission requirements, providing timely support even outside business hours and improving faculty experiences. Additionally, AI could help administrators make informed decisions by analyzing large volumes of data on spending patterns, funding gaps, and operational efficiencies, offering insights that guide smarter resource allocation and budgeting. Through "AI: The Next Frontier," research administrators will discover actionable ideas like these for leveraging AI to streamline workflows, foster collaboration, and advance institutional goals.
Suggested length: Between 600 and 1300 words (i.e., somewhere between 1.3 and 2.9 single spaced pages)
Co-authors: Feel free to author solo, choose a collaborator, or let us suggest one.
Deadline info: With apologies for the short timeline, the article is due to contributing editors by 5/27/25 (You may have received our message elsewhere with the original deadline of 5/23/25; the opportunity is still open)
Additional notes:
(1) You do not need to be an AI expert. The perspective of someone who is new to AI is as welcome as that of a writer who is more tech savvy.
(2) Feel free to team up with a colleague. Co-writing can lighten the load and also be a lot of fun.
(3) First-time authors are always welcome. There will be support throughout the process.
Thanks!
