We have a number of interesting events coming up in Region I.
Wicked Local Meetups
We are expanding upon our popular online series of Wicked Good Chats with a series of in-person Wicked Local Meetups. They're taking place at the following locations, dates, and times:
- Boston, MA, hosted by Northeastern University, on Thursday 10/30 from noon to 1pm
- Providence, RI, hosted by Brown University Health, on Thursday 10/30 from noon to 1pm
- Portland, ME, hosted by the University of Southern Maine, on Thursday 10/30 from 11:30am to 1pm
- Burlington, VT, hosted by the University of Vermont, on Thursday, 10/30 from noon to 1pm
- Bridgewater, MA, hosted by Harvard Medical School, on Thursday 11/6 from 11:30am to 12:30pm
Please register to attend here. A few days before the event, you will be contacted by the organizer at your location with details about where to park and how to get to the room. They will also let you know if any food or drinks will be provided. The meetups will start with a round of introductions but will generally be informal get-togethers. This will be an opportunity to gather with current (and maybe past or future) colleagues and take a minute to decompress and get to know each other.
Professional Development Committee Series on Building Your Own Board
The next installments in this year's series on Building Your Own Board are coming up in November and December. These online sessions are free and open to anyone, but advance registration is required.
Continuing Education: What Works for Research Administrators? on Thursday, 11/20, from 10-11am EST
Going back to school can seem both exciting and daunting. This session will focus on the experience of seasoned research administrators going back to school. What did they learn from the experience? How has it impacted their career? This will be a fun and thoughtful conversation with many opportunities for audience participation. Noelle Strom (Simmons University), Laura Walsh (Yale University), and Morgan Fielding (Northeastern) will lead the discussion.
Please register here.
You are not Just Your Job: Share what Helps you Live a Fuller Life and Makes you a Better Employee on Thursday, 12/18 from 10-11am EST
Come and celebrate the richness of a life well lived by being in community with a wonderful group of panelists as we talk about what makes our lives fulfilling, fun, and yet also enhances our professional development. These panelists will share some of their incredible work outside of their 9-5 day jobs and how that work inspires them and amplifies their professional development. Brianne Carter (University of Maine), Tessa Seales (Northeastern University), and Sonya Stern (University of Vermont Health Network) will lead the discussion.
Please register here.
