This is something that may change given the administration's targeting of companies that are doing a line-item tariff charge.

Based on contracts that are in place, they can't add it to the cost of the product because that would go against the agreed upon price. They are currently looking monthly at the changes in tariffs so that cost could go down next month so renegotiating the current contract would be short sighted.

Hi Nancy,
My first thought when I read this is the company adding this to all customers. I am curious why they aren't just building it into their price of the product.
Thanks for sharing!

Good afternoon,
I have just received notification from a company we purchase from that they will be charging us a 20% tariff surcharge to our NIH grants as a line item on all upcoming invoices.
Has anyone else dealt with this? They have offered to retitle the line, any thoughts on what they could call it so we won't have issues with NIH?
thanks,
