Bryony (Bry) Wakefield PhD is the Executive Director, Research Management & Innovation, at King’s College London. Bry joined King's in September 2024. Prior to joining King’s she worked as the Executive Director of Research Services at the University of Glasgow. Before moving to the U.K. Bry had held senior research management roles at the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne. This experience is complemented by her role as a Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University, teaching into the Masters in Research Administration.
Bry has been a career-long advocate for our global research professional staff network. She has been actively involved through local, national and international initiatives. She was an inaugural Fellow of the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS). Having been an active volunteer with NCURA, initially with the international region and then at the national level, it was a significant privilege to become Vice-President/President-Elect in 2022 and hold the role of President of NCURA in 2023. Working in collaboration with exceptional volunteers and the amazing NCURA staff has been a highlight of her working life.
Having worked in the higher education sector for ~20 years, these experiences have instilled in Bry the importance of living our values, continual learning, working in collaboration, differing perspectives, and the occasional sharing of a good laugh.
